Foot Notes and DUBB present their first ever collaboration concert featuring highlights from both groups’ 2024/25 sets, and collaborative numbers ranging from Gene Puerling to Ēriks Ešenvalds.

Off the back of a successful first term, described as ‘vibrant and accomplished’ in audience reviews, Foot Notes are thrilled to return to the Durham stage alongside DUBB with a diverse range of repertoire: from the music of Anaїs Mitchell in Hadestown, to the likes of Alexander L’Estrange and Eleanor Daley.

DUBB are excited to collaborate with Foot Notes on a concert with highlights from their 2024/25 set: Unspoken Voices. They are proud to present a programme of underrepresented composers in a unique contemporary set, including the music of Nikki Iles, Maria Schneider, and a big band arrangement of Ēriks Ešenvalds’ “Only In Sleep”.

A collection of reflective, sacred choral music for the time of Lent. Intertwined with early keyboard and lute pieces.

The Dunelm Consort and Players present an evening of poignant and reflective Renaissance choral and instrumental music. With choral works ranging from the ethereal Allegri Miserere to the hauntingly beautiful Hear my prayer by Purcell, this programme promises to transport listeners from Italy to England through music ranging from chant to polyphony. Intertwining these emotive choral works with solo instrumental pieces invites a contemplative mood, offering the perfect introspective evening in keeping with the Lenten time of year.

Three highly-respected jazz musicians from across the UK come together for this special collaboration with Durham University Jazz Society. Expect a programme of hard-swinging jazz, ballads, and bossa-nova, drawing on the American Songbook tradition. Later in the evening, trio will become quartet, with the addition of Durham University Finalist Freddie Krone on drums!

Jamie Taylor has built a strong reputation throughout the UK and overseas, as a dynamic jazz

guitarist and teacher. His playing has been heard at a long list of clubs and festivals and, in the latter field, he has been Lecturer in Jazz Guitar at Leeds Conservatoire for over 20 years.

Jamie appeared frequently with drummer Sebastiaan DeKrom's resident trio at the legendary Troubadour club in London's Earl's Court, usually alongside organist Pete Whittaker, or regular

bassists Jeremy Brown and Steve Watts. Meanwhile, his collaboration with fellow guitarist Sam Dunn has been a recurrent feature of Ronnie Scott's 'Two For The Road' duo series.

Jamie has also been privileged to work on a more occasional basis with many excellent jazz

musicians from both sides of the Atlantic, among them Baptiste Herbin, Wayne Escoffery, John

Goldsby, Sheryl Bailey, John Stowell, Kate Williams, Tori Freestone, Roni Ben-Hur, Bart DeFoort, and

Steve Fishwick.

After completing a music degree at the University of Denver in the 80s, Graham Harvey returned to his native England and began working in the UK as a jazz pianist and session musician. Between 1991 and 2001 Graham was the Musical director of the pop band Incognito, recording 13 albums and touring the world Multiple times. From 2006 to the present, Graham has been the pianist for singer Stacey Kent, touring extensively and recording several albums for Blue Note, including the Grammy nominated 'Breakfast on the Morning Tram'.

Over the past three decades Graham has worked with many Jazz and Pop artists including: George

Benson, M People, Hamish Stuart, Will Lee, Lulu, The Jones Girls, Phillip Bailey, Chaka Khan, The BBC Big Band, Omar, Madeline Bell, Jocelyn Brown, Mica Paris, Kenny Thomas and sir Cliff Richard.

The Graham Harvey Trio has been in existence for 25 years and has appeared at Ronnie Scott's in London and on French national radio.

Andy Champion graduated from Newcastle College in 1998, initially working throughout the UK and Europe as an electric bassist and drummer in various styles of music. But after taking up double bass in 2003 he became more heavily involved in the North East jazz and improvised music scene, rapidly building a reputation that has led to recording and performing with top names such as Bob Mintzer, Tim Garland, Jason Yarde and Andy Sheppard. As an improviser he has played alongside major international figures including Marc Ducret, Marilyn Crispell, Matt Maneri and Eugene Chadbourne.

In addition to touring extensively across the UK with ACV, he also performs with Chris Sharkey's

Shiver, Anglo-French improvising quartet Sonsale and with jazz vocalist Zoë Gilby. In 2013 he was

awarded a place on Serious' 'Take Five' development scheme for outstanding young musicians.

We also take you around the world with Arirang and Akatonbu, beautifully combining beloved Korean and Japanese folk tunes. Durham University Classical Theatre are proud to present our annual Shakespeare production, Romeo and Juliet. In this fresh take on the Shakespearean classic, the story unfolds amid the turmoil of the French Revolution.

Juliet is the daughter of an aristocratic family loyal to the monarchy, while Romeo is a passionate revolutionary fighting for liberty and equality. Their love blossoms in secret against the violent backdrop of political upheaval and shifting alliances. As tensions rise, Romeo and Juliet's entanglement reaches boiling point, in an ending testament to the unbridled power of true love.
