Created by science and abandoned by their maker, the creature tries to find a place in the hostile world where they are shunned for their grotesque form.
Nick Dear’s Frankenstein adapts the beloved work of Shelley to stage. Taking the creature as the central protagonist. The Creature is created by troubled scientist Frankenstein. Through experimentation with new scientific methods, he succeeds in creating life.
Immediately shunned by Frankenstein for their grotesque appearance the creature is abandoned to an equally cruel world. Facing prejudice, the creature finds sanctity in the old blind man De Lacey who educates the creature, providing him with kindness and friendship. The creature’s safety is soon lost as they are once again abandoned to the world, leaving feelings of anger and violence to fester.
