HBT Miscast

HBT Miscast

A collection of students performing as characters they wouldn't traditionally be cast as. The one rule of miscast? There are no rules! Raising money for Acting for Others.

HBT Miscast showcases some of Durham’s biggest talents. In Miscast, no rules apply. Too old for Matilda? Not blonde enough for Elle? The wrong gender for Fantine? It doesn’t matter! The first in a two-part series, ‘In the Eye of the Hurricane’ looks to theatre to understand times of conflict, challenging our performers to get in touch with their emotions! The showcases aim to celebrate the arts and reassure that the show will go on! A proportion of ticket sales will be donated to Acting for Others, supporting the work they do providing support for theatre workers in these times.

Frankenstein

Frankenstein

The world's most famous horror story. Uniquely adapted for radio and accompanied by original illustrations, witness the timeless classic that has instilled fear and curiosity as we ask the ever-intriguing question: what happens after death?

From the teams that brought you The Marley Stones, and Fictional Five: Castle Theatre Company and Green Door present 'Frankenstein', adapted for radio by Sophie Wright. A twisted, upside-down creation myth, Mary Shelley’s Gothic tale lays bare the dark side of science, and the horror within us all. Written after a nightmare when its author was only eighteen, the infamous story is of Victor Frankenstein, who plunders graveyards to create a new being from the bodies of the dead – but whose botched creature causes nothing but murder and destruction.

Grace

Grace

‘Grace’ is a series of monologues that explores what it means to live graciously – or ungraciously - in day to day life.

Grace is often grand. A huge gesture, a bold sacrifice - a life-changing, earth-shattering moment. But, during lockdown, I became aware of the everyday acts of grace that so often go unnoticed. I realised that whilst grace can be a grand act, it can often be a word, or a glance. It can be a shopping delivery, a FaceTime, a walk. It can be giving your Mum the bigger slice of cake. Everyday, we make our own choices. These choices are more pronounced in a crisis, and ultimately mould and carve us into the people we see in the mirror.
