Edges

Edges

From the award-winning writers Pasek & Paul (Dear Evan Hansen, La La Land), Edges is a modern song cycle exploring love, commitment and finding your identity against all odds.

'Edges' is a one-act song cycle, written by Tony, Oscar and Grammy winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (Dear Evan Hansen, The Greatest Showman, La La Land, Dogfight). This coming-of-age musical features contemporary songs that address some of the most challenging aspects of adulthood, including relationships, career prospects, commitment and failure. Delivering heartbreak and humour in equal measure, 'Edges' captures the struggles of today’s youth whilst also emphasising the importance of hope in the face of adversity. Tone Deaf Theatre Company is thrilled to bring this musical to the Durham stage once again.

Synthesise

Synthesise

Meet the world through another’s eyes, ears, nose and fingertips. Colour becomes sound, or sound becomes vibrations. Through fusions of music, movement and colour, Wrong Tree presents ‘Synthesize.’

Who are we and why are we here? A waiting room sets five individuals on a life changing course that navigates their desire to be made whole. But are they willing to forgo what they already have and will they leave with what they came for.

Wrong Tree’s devised production ’Synthesise’ uses the senses to build up realities and interrogates and experiments with what it means to be human. A collision of naturalism and physical theatre reveals that a risk for the future often requires a sacrifice of the past. The present then is marked only by a choice, to make or break. But how long before the time runs out.

Three children awaken at sea. A stormed has passed… …and another stirs on the distant horizon. In this oceanic limbo, dreams and nightmares swim just beneath the surface.

TOUCH is the first feature length production by UVTC. It is a unique story told without spoken word, communicated through music, movement and dance. In this wonderland, the waters are alive. As the children sail across this magical ocean, what dreams will rise from the azure waters? And what nightmares lurk in the blackened depths? As their pasts, presents and futures intertwine, the siblings will swim through a dimension only found in the wildest of children’s books. Can they ever sail to the sunrise?
