Agamemnon and the Wasps

Agamemnon and the Wasps

In Aeschylus' AGAMEMNON follow the mythical king's return home from war to the clutches of his vengeful queen Clytemnestra.

Aeschylus's tragedy AGAMEMNON is set after the Trojan war. Agamemnon returns home with his concubine Cassandra - who has been labelled insane - and is murdered by his wife Clytemnestra and her lover Aegisthus to avenge her daughter. Aeschylus makes us question when and if revenge is ever justified.

In Aristophanes' THE WASPS, follow a son's hilarious attempts to separate his father from the allure of Athenian Jury duty.

Aristophanes's comedy THE WASPS, in contrast, offers a satirical and comedic perspective on the Athenian legal system. It follows Bdelycleon's  attempt to stop his father Philocleon from constantly serving jury duties, which he believes is detrimental to his health.
