Durham University Orchestral Society is delighted to present Mahler: Symphony No.1 'Titan'. Performed in the stunning Durham Cathedral, this concert boasts an atmospheric and exuberant programme, exploring works by the renowned composers Gustav Mahler and John Adams.
Durham University Orchestral Society is delighted to present the Symphony Orchestra, performing the atmospheric and renowned work, Symphony No.1 ‘Titan’ by Gustav Mahler. Given the nickname, ‘Titan’, by Mahler, after a novel by Jean Paul, this tone poem in the form of a symphony explores nature and the human experience. Depicted through the various programmatic movements, this will take you on a journey through ‘Days of Youth’ leading to the inevitability of death and heaven. This stunning piece will be performed alongside the postminimalist work ‘Short Ride in a Fast Machine’ by John Adams and will boast an evening of musical splendour.
