Durham Opera Ensemble presents Gilbert and Sullivan's classic comic opera, Iolanthe. Please join us in the beautiful St. John's College Gardens at the end of June for what promises to be a great show!

Years after being banished from fairyland for marrying a mortal, Iolanthe is visited by her sisters who miss her. Meanwhile, Iolanthe's half fairy, half man son Strephon seeks to marry the Lord Chancellor's ward, Phyllis. Upon their marriage being rejected by the peers, the fairies reap revenge by magically making Strephon an MP with the ability to pass any bill. Chaos ensues!

Presented as part of the Summer in the City Festival.
